Η Εύα εξομολογείται...

Με λένε Εύα είμαι 33 ετών και ημουν 14 χρονια στη χρηση ενδοφλέβιας ηρωίνης και κοκαΐνης.

Έμεινα έγκυος στα τέλη του 2011 και πηγα να γεννησω.
Εκεί έμαθα ότι είμαι οροθετικη!!

Έφυγε η γη κάτω από τα πόδια μου. Φοβήθηκα όχι τόσο για μενα, όσο για το μωρο μου!!!
Δεν μπορώ να σας περιγράψω πως ένιωσα εκείνη τη στιγμή.

Αφού πήρα το μωρό μου στο σπίτι και με την πολυτιμη βοηθεια πρώτα του Ύψιστου και μετά των γονιών μου και του συντροφου μου, έδωσα μάχη για να κόψω τα ναρκωτικά.

Είχα σοβαρά ψυχολογικά προβλήματα, και λόγω στέρησης από τα ναρκωτικά αλλά και λόγω του hiv.
Για ένα χρόνο έτρεχα συνεχώς στο Παιδων καθε δυο μηνες έτσι ώστε να παρακολουθείται από γιατρούς το μωρό μου.
Τελικά το Δεκέμβριο του 2012, βγήκε αρνητικό και στον hiv και στον hcv.
Δόξα τω Θεώ!!!

Α ξέχασα να σας πω ότι έχω και ηπατίτιδα C.

Σήμερα 1/2015, ζω ευτυχισμένη, παντρεύτηκα τον πατέρα του παιδιού μου, μεγαλώνουμε το παιδάκι μας, λαμβάνω αντιρετροϊκή αγωγή και πάω πολύ καλα
Κάνω και τη θεραπεία για την ηπατίτιδα με ιντερφερονη αλλά αυτή είναι λίγο επίπονη.

Όμως το κυριότερο ειναι οτι έγινα καλύτερος ανθρωπος μεσα από όλες αυτές μου τις περιπέτειες και στράφηκα στο Θεο!!!

HIV prevention for young African women is about choice

By the end of 2024, an estimated 8 million people had initiated pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP),1 including approximately 2 million people in sub-Saharan Africa since 2022.2 Young African women are a high priority for HIV prevention because of their persistently high HIV incidence despite increased frequency of HIV testing of African men, linkages to antiretroviral therapy (ART) when positive, and viral suppression among their male partners. Although uptake of daily oral PrEP by young women, including in South Africa, has increased substantially in the past several years, adherence and persistence are suboptimal,3 in part due to challenges with daily pill-taking, societal attitudes about young women's sexual activity, anticipated or experienced stigma from taking an antiretroviral for HIV prevention, and fear of rejection by partners and family if they learn about their PrEP use.

The future of HIV prevention in southeast Asia

HIV remains a public health threat globally, particularly in Asia and the Pacific, which was estimated to be home to 16Β·9% of 40Β·8 million people living with HIV worldwide in 2024.1 The region contributed 23Β·1% of all new HIV infections; however, of 8 million users of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) worldwide less than 5% live in Asia and the Pacific.2 Effective and sustainable implementation of prevention may prove challenging, but past experience and robust community-led approaches might pave the way for southeast Asia.

Due south: navigating volatile health research landscapes

Unprecedented changes to the availability and structure of health funding, specifically from the USA, have had substantial impacts on research programmes, collaborations, and, most importantly, vulnerable populations in low-income and middle-income countries. For nearly three decades, South Africa has served as a crucial location for HIV and other infectious disease research, and in the process, produced internationally recognised experts in the field.1 Although South African health research, and similar programmes in low-income and middle-income countries, have benefitted substantially from international grant support, through deep and organic collaborations with US partners, the disruption in funding requires urgent rethinking to ensure the long-term sustainability of health research in South Africa and beyond.
